Our Mission
Roots of the Rockies
Music Association is a Colorado nonprofit corporation dedicated to presenting
culturally diverse, nationally touring, music performances, children's programs,
and educational outreach opportunities in Salida and surrounding communities
while attracting audiences from outside the region to enhance local economic
activity.
On
behalf of the Board and Staff at Roots of the Rockies Music Association I
regret to announce that, after 7 remarkable years serving our community, we
are ceasing operations November 1st 2008 due to spiraling cost, a poor economy
and competition from the City of Salida. As an all volunteer nonprofit we
had cut our expenses to nearly zero while exploring various funding options,
unfortunately with no success. We are extremely proud of our Summit Music
Series and our Children's Series, which brought world-class entertainment
and educational outreach programs to the Valley, serving all ages while promoting
tourism. More than 16,000 attended and participated in these programs since
2001 and we are indebted to the community for your gracious support. Most
importantly, we tip our hats to our members and underwriters whose generous
support made this great ride possible. This list of individuals and businesses
is, regretfully, too long to list. However, we would be remiss if we did not
highlight a few of the more passionate who shared both financial and moral
support. Kathie Younghans of AMICIAS, Jane Pinto - Pinon Real Estate Group,
Harald Kasper & Michelle Riggio - Salida Physical Therapy and Roxy & Greg
Amidon - Roxy's Bottle Shop.
